Can someone please check this for me? Throttle body whirring noise.
I am wondering if someone could either check this for me, or maybe you already know.
I recently replaced the thermostat on my V6 P2, and while there cleaned out the throttle body. There was quite a bit of black gunk around the edges, so I took it off and gave it a good clean out (yes, I did open and close it by hand to get to all the muck).
Anyway, after putting it all back together I noticed that with the ignition on, but car not started, there is a whirring noise from the throttle body. Sounds like a little motor running all the time. I know there is a stepper motor in there to control the butterfly, but surely it should not be running all the time? I have never noticed this before, but then I have never really been looking.
The car was idling too fast (1000rpm) after the work, so I cleaned up all the connections as described on here and it was back to 800rpm again. Today its idling fast again, also seem to hesitate a while once you come off the throttle (a second or so) before dropping to idle.
Just wondering if my throttle body is dying on me?
