how to test the servo

Hi All have not been on here recently. Just staring to get the old spider ready for a summer to remember.
And remembered last year brakes o.k but seemed to need a lot of foot pressure to stop, so was wondering if the servo is knackered.
So How do I test the servo is working pproperly.

A quick check is to start the car and then press the brake to get the feel of the pedal. Then stop the engine and push the brake pedal a few times, each time you press it will get a little harder as the vacuum dissipates. After a few pushes the pedal will be pretty hard and stay that way until you start the car.

If you start the car whilst pressing the brake pedal as the engine starts you will feel the brake pedal going down and getting softer.

That's far more technical than my test; I was going to say pull the hose off and suck on it, see if it pulls a vacuum.
