There is a general problem with "What is it worth?" in that the general market place for these cars is somewhat lower than where it should be. The value in terms of the trade books would probably come in at £2.50 for all our cars (bulk, bulk) if you were to take it in for P/X and you never would!
The price comes down to buyer perception of the total package. Hence, you would only look to sell to a fellow enthusiast and not a Hooray Henry! But, there are limitations in terms of how far one would go to.
For example: Alfaholics are selling their GTV V6 for £5,900 that comes with every single Alfaholics upgrade and everything else if you have read their advert.
IMO, this is a very good price! and other people might say it's too expensive! and there we have the dilemma.
Clive will price his cars to where he perceives the value to be and is happy to sit on them until the right buyer comes along with the same perceived value of buying one of the best possible examples on the market today.
Basically, the buyer who is looking to buy a Keeper and pay the appropriate coin for it.
You then have the problem of 2.0TS and 3.0/3.2 V6 and which is the one to have? Particularly, if you are spending top dollar you will be leaning towards a V6 forsure if its a GTV. However, if I was going to add a Spider then the TS is probably the sweeter handling package seeing as the roof's been chopped.
There are some TS and JTS Spiders going for £4-£5K and V6 Spiders are £5K++
At the end of the day, for those of us like Andy who have busted our nuts getting our cars to perfection!! will always perceive the £££ value higher than the seller would (I am exactly the same). The cars are worth more to us than for the cash exchange we could 'realistically' achieve, and that is the thing here... "Reality" its such a ***** when selling, but great when buying these types of car.
In terms of values going North, its at least another 5 years away.
Andy's Spider is worth top draw money, it has been meticulously sorted throughout and at least £3K-£3.5K should be possible IMO.
Yes, you can buy a TS Spider for around £1,500 and within 12 months you will spend that again.
At the end of day, (as a buyer) what do you want???..........
A) Project Car?
- circa. £700 shed and good luck with your bank balance in the next 12 months
B) Half Way House?
- circa. £1,200 - £1,500 for a usable / decent baseline example and you'll still spend on top
C) Fully Sorted?
- circa. £ Top Draw - fully sorted, updated, tastefully enhanced spec and the only spend for at least 2-3 years will be on standard servicing / maintenance works
It'll be tragic if you sell her Andy, she is a beauty -- but good luck all the same, now that the Cup has arrived
BTW... his car also had a full, high quality respray last year - now that's worth £2K of anyone's money!!!
