Re: One of the worst nights of my LIFE
You know what Q Toy - I can really empathise with you. The roof on my 2002 Spider jammed regularly, both on its way down and when permanently down. Many a time the car sat on the driveway with yards of plastic sheeting streched over it, fixed to various parts of the bidy with masking tape. Inevitably, one morning I came out, found it had rained heavily and there was about sixty gallons of water in a puddle in the middle of the plastic. The neighbours gathered to watch me try and remove the water/plastic without soaking the car - one told me it reminded him of 'It's a Knockout' and proceeded to laugh like Stuart Hall. ****. (neighbour, not old Stuart).
I perfected the use of the manual over-ride buttons for the cover panel, and an SGT mechanic told me to keep the wheel brace behind the seats then showed me where to hit the mechanism (basically in the middle of the swivelling piece which the left & right release cables are anchored to). I became an expert - one hefty wack on the retaining nut in the centre, back in business.......
Sorry you had such a bad one. But as others have suggested - it could have been alot worse.....!
