As it happens, although I'd read the early part of this thread, I'd forgotten about it.....and then I bought this car from the scrap yard (via an online Salvage auction that I often use) last weekend.
Amazingly, on the day I turned up to collect it (and a 156 V6 that I'd also bought), as I handed over my "proof of purchase", the guy standing next to me at the counter said - "have you bought my old car?" and after we got chatting volunteered to send me the service paperwork that he had for it......fine chap!
The car has 211000 or so miles on it, but is in pretty good nick - I've checked the past MOT history and it looks quite reasonable.....and the car drove 60 or so miles back to my unit with no problem. I'm certainly minded to sort the MOT issues and either use it as a summer toy, or sell it on, but if any of those previously expressing interest in the car are serious - feel free to contact me, since as usual I've got plenty of other projects on the go - the 156 V6, a 147 JTD 8v in need of a turbo, a facelift 156 JTDm etc, and not really enough space for them. I could break it as its worth a lot more in bits, (wheels and tyres and the leather interior alone are worth the cars price) but it seems a shame.......
