Further progress today on getting the box changed (sadly no pictures). I swapped the clutch over last night and then this morning with the help of a mate got the gearbox back in. We very nearly gave up to get the subf-rame out as it was a right pig but after making the wise decision to lift the engine a bit on the jack, it finally slotted home.
I now have it bolted in from the top two bolts and one bottom one but can anyone give me a definitive answer on just how many bell housing bolts there are and what should fit where? I have two fat bolts with 18mm heads in the top and a shorter thinner bolt with an 18mm head in the bottom so far. When I removed the old box there weren't any others! I have some spare from my spares car but took that off a long time back. The workshop manual isn't massively helpful with the diagrams (although the torque values are there)
Secondly, I have the engine/box supported by the offside and nearside mounts but not the central one. My friend removed it when we were getting the box out so wondered if anyone could point me in the right direction with what bolts I use where and torque values? Cant find the right info in the workshop manual?
Oh and any tips getting the gearbox rod on that goes over the ball joint on the selector??? Access is poor and attempts with a G clamp have been unsuccessful!
Thanks in advance!
