Well, I've had my GTV for 2 weeks now and I absolutely love it, wish its' bodywork was a bit smarter but there you go, not too bad really.
Despite a 20 mile test drive or so the car drove perfectly but when I drove home in the car the first bump I went over a huge *CLUNK was audible! Yay! I think it's the front anti-roll bar drop links as the bushes look knackered!
Also, at higher cruising speeds there was a humming noise from the rear end which increased with road speed. I thought ut oh... wheel bearings? Rear bushes? No, it was a wheel weight catching a badly fitted handbrake cable! Result! Luckiest escape I've ever had, a bloody Alfa too, thought Alfa ownership was meant to be painful lol - Plus, having had the car on a ramp it looks like the rear end has been polybushed
Other issues though are:
- Thermostat stuck open,
- Slight brake squeal when the brakes are lightly used,
- Front fog lights don't work. The one has melted and the other simply doesn't work even with a new bulb!
- No reverse lights.
So, all in all a fair old motor, put some GTA wheels on it and it's great!
Love this old thing!
