I don't know your car but my 147 needed a piston rewind tool for the back brakes, have a look at this I know its not a help now if your car is in bits but you might be able to spin it with something else, maybe grind two notches into a socket and weld it to a g-clamp?:-

Think from your description you are looking to wind the caliper piston in....
Cheap way....long nose pliers....
More expensive way.... Halfords | Laser Brake Caliper Rewind Tool

Thumbs Up

thanks guys, its a 2.0 ts GTV

yes i am trying to wind the caliper back in, i was also looking at the tools you have sent links to (thanks btw)

Im hoping to borrow one tomorrow to do the job and then buy one after

it seems to stiff for pliers, i dont know whether thats an omen for things to come..

is that laser rewind tool the correct fitting for the caliper, as that was the only doubt i had in my mind for not buying it already, as there seems to be many different types for different models

clean and or spray some lube around dust seal BEFORE you wind the piston back in, if it catches it will tear the rubber dust seal.
