I have been looking over the forum for information regarding a problem with immobiliser which has started from Monday this week. My problem seems to be a bit different from other forum member's issues although the result is the same. Last weekend I:
- Knocked around in the back of the spider and adjusted the battery terminal - Battery is new and been OK for the last two weeks.
- Replaced the tray over the drivers legs which hides the wires near the steering column
- Have had the drivers door internal card off to solve a bouncing lock (which still persists)
When I get in my car, I unlock with the remote, the bouncing lock happens so I manually unlock the driver door, sit in the car, turn the key to Mar...wait for the warning lights to go out, turn the key and then complete power outage.
If I take the key out and open and close the door, the alarm flashes (or goes off) I click the alarm to activate/deactivate and try again....turn the key to mar, wait for the lights to go out and the car will start with no signs of any failing power, no dimming of lights and no weak starter motor sound (I may have to do the door thing a couple of times but eventually she starts)
So I think I need to do a ECU reset with battery off for an hour but my question is: Is it normal for the Immobiliser to cause a complete power outage as part of its operation?
