More MAF mayhem
This is making me craaaaaaaazy! Managed to buy a new MAF from ebay for my 2001 3.0 V6, and lovingly installed it after splashing out a further £50 on tools. Got 200 yards from home, and the engine started spluttering, car jerked, accelerator become utterly unresponsive. As panic set in, I got the car back home and checked air pipes etc etc - all OK. So I uninstalled the new part, whacked the old one back in, and the car was back to as it was before I put the new one in.
The new one is a BOSH part, and I checked the listed part numbers on the ebay auction against the BOSH website, and it all seems to be correct. The parts themselves (old or new) are not stamped with a BOSH/Alfa part number, although they do have PBT-GF30 both stamped on them. There is a resistor on both MAFs, the old one is stamped M, and the new one is R1. Wonder if that is relevant?
Has this happened to anybody else (the engine issue). Clearly I didn't get the EOBD light re-set, but surely that shouldn;t make that much difference? The ECU should relearn the new sensors parameters pretty quickly, I thought.
Please, any insight would be appreciated. I'm going to try and get an exchange in case the new MAF is faulty out the box...
