Yep I would avoid drilled like the plague. Brother is part of the WRX (aka. Yob club) here and plenty of guys have had discs crack and total brake failure because the holes created little weak spots where tiny fractures appear, then take it out on a track.......bye bye discs and hello sand trap/wall.
As for grooved, really depends on what you want out of your brakes. You might see a marginal improvement in braking efficiency if you pair them with a good set of pads, BUT, you will get more noise. So I would do what most of the others here are suggesting and get a good set of 'standards' (eg. Brembo's) and pair them with a set of good quality pads. That is assuming it is mostly for daily commuting/sunday drives. If you want to track it then noise shouldn't really be an issue, then go for grooved. But avoid drilled!!!!
