Finally the big day has arrived, well almost. Tomorrow morning the rear end is being stripped down and all parts replaced with new or refurbished:
Spring pans anti rust primed, then powdercoated red, lemforder bushes and power flex bushes, dinitrol'ed inside
Transverse arms - same treatment as above
Wishbones - again powdercoated and power flexed, new ball joints, new drop links
New bump stops, new springs, new adjustable tie rods, new KYB shocks, new spring-cups
Arb powdercoated red too & brackets
This has been a long time in the making as I sourced new parts and refurbed used parts. Very much looking forward to the difference and also to watching it all happen.....
Pics to follow
On the subject of the new parts - I bought the adjustable tie rods from Alfaholics. When ordering, I was told "you'll need to grind the bushes a little either side".
Didn't think too much of it at the time, however last week I took them to a local engineer who did the job properly. Now call me grumpy, but I would have thought that alfaholics could have done that themselves, rather than simply overcharge me for a part that wouldn't fit (and I later learn is a part for a Nissan).
It was a 10 minute job for which I paid a tenner, to face and thickness 4 bushes, 8 sides.
