Thumbs Up GTV aerials

Hi there,

very new to the alfa forum experience so go easy if i dont get it right first time.

i have an alfa GTV 2.0 and have a couple of queries if you can help.

1. I bought by gtv with the aerial missing - the motor seems to work(hear a sound when you put the factory changer on etc but its been snapped off (the screwed in part is still inside and can be unscrewed and removed leaving the base). is there a simple solution (buying the aerial) or does the whole unit need replacing. any ideas where to pick up spares cheaply??

thanks for your time, ben

Re: GTV aerials

There are lots of people who have bought the whole unit from eBay and fitted it themselves, myself included. Its an easy job, half an hour at most. Do a search and you should come up with the answer you are looking for.

Re: GTV aerials

Thanks for your advice

bearing in mind i have little or no experience with car electronics and aerials the worst that could happen is i get one off ebay and ask for help - probably get it cheaper than if i went through a car audio place hey!!

does the aerial fix in by iso connector (plug into plug) or is there some wiring involved??

Re: GTV aerials

If it is the same as the one I bought (can't remember name but it was £25 so probably the same) then the connections you need to make are:

- co-axial aerial lead
- earth (there is a bolt on side of boot for this, you will need to open up connector on supplied earth lead connector to fit round bolt thread
- two power leads, the standard Alfa aerial does have a plug head to the power leads but you can just slot the power lead directly in.

I also had to move the mounting bracket up (by screwing the bottom of the mount into the top hole).
