Brake Caliper Painting

My GTV's front brake calipers have faded in places and I wondered if anyone had had experience of painting them? I've never done it before but think they would benefit from some shiny red paint and some new stickers. They do look quite impressive when they look spanking.

Any suggestions or should I leave them alone?

Re: Brake Caliper Painting

Halfrods do some caliper paint that's like nail varnish. It's a bit thin and you need to put two coats on but it seems glossy and durable and reasonably cheap (@5).

Make sure you clean the calipers well though - brake dust mixed with paint makes the paint go dark.

There are also two-pack type finishes available (@20) where you mix the pigment with a hardener. That's more robust, has a nicer finish and seems harder wearing but it's 4 times the price obviously.

I got my caliper decals from this guy on ebay:

He sent me lkoads of spares in case i messed up (which i didn't) just gave them to my mate last night, otherwise i would have sent them to you. Check the guys ebay store out as i think he does the paint too. You want the two part stuff if you want a good finish (paint & thickener) you usually get free cleaner with it too.

Nice one, thanks guys, saw the ebay guy the other night, seems fairly reasonable. Would love new calipers but suspect they may be expensive and a damn sight harder than painting!! Will give it a go
