2.0TS Engine won't idle
I drove a round trip in my 2001 Spider last Saturday, total 25 miles or so. It drove like a dream. Parked it on the drive, hood down in the sun around mid-day. Watched football etc. and early evening decided to go out to find a nice country pub with my wife.
Started the car, and it spluttered and died out. Started again, same thing. Started third time and with a bit of throttle kept the revs up, and as a result of continuous throttle blipping at any junction etc. was able to get around but with the threat of it conking out at every junction.
Came back parked it back in the garage, had beer in my garden instead of pub.
Next day started car, no problem, idled perfectly......and still does.
I had the opposite experience on a trip to Ireland 3 years ago, came out of a tourist attraction, had parked with the hood down on hot day - it started idling at 2000prm for no reason. Ended up nursing it back home in the UK from West Coast of Ireland with this problem which remedied itself a couple of days after I got back!!
Does anyone have any ideas other than "thats the Alfa experience"..??
Anything heat related perhaps? (Saturday was hottish around 26c - and I don't often leave it parked with the hood down in the mid day sun).
