ABS, its working but it isnt!
Having conquered most of the electrical gremlins on the GTV I have one that is a bit of a head scratcher! Problem I have is on ignition the ABS light does not light up then go out. Ive checked that the previous owner hasnt disconneted the LED (which I thought would be the cause as the allen screws securing the dials are VERY rounded...., and ECU scan says the car has done 100k miles but the dash only reads 74k, hmmm.....)
ECU scan connects to the ABS unit and has one fault code, drivers front sensor in O/C. Ive checked the wiring to this sensor and its all good, plus the sensor itself is fine (reads 1.5kohms resistance spiking to 1.7 when reading the ridge on the hub, exactly same as other 3 sensors) however the issue starts when I press f10 to clear the code, ECU scan disconnects from the ECU, and doesnt clear the fault. Then when I reconnect the same fault is there but at the bottom it says the reason for the faut is generic, and the current fault state is *blank*.
Heres the real head scratcher though, if I go out and slam on, the ABS works! I know im nitpicking a little bit, but an eagle eyed mot tester could fail the car for this, plus i want the satisfaction of conquering all the demons this car has had! (Maf sensor, Airbag lights, Rear heater not working, CODE issues, ive defeated them all bar this one!)
Thanks in advance.
