Re: 2.0 tspark 155 engine into 96 GTV
bought a 96 155. 70k on clock! in bad shape really. engine misfiring and down on power. sounded a bit rough at idle. It was a really filthy dirty car in and out!
Anyway, got car and a set of practically new 16 inch teledials (nothing to do with the 155 but from this guys 156, I don't understand people who ruin the look of their cars with aftermarket rims) with two new 205/55 and half worn 205/55 on them. I'm going to put them on the GTV because I hate the dated look of the old 96 ones, gotta put 205/50's on them though!
I got the lot for €570 which is just under £400.
The sparks were flooded with water and I had to drain each spark chamber into the cylinders and start the engine to blow out the water. Did this four times. then cleaned the top of the head up and washed everything carefully with petrol and everything worked perfectly.
Perfect engine. Got a couple of guys to do the transplant. Kept all the GTV electrics. By the way, the sump is identical!!! When it was finished, it turned over a couple of times and then.....vroom vroom. it was perfect. Idled nicely. nice smooth torque curve. peaky. nice.
Got the teledials on with new low profile tyres. polished her up nicely. got her valeted!
car cost: €1700
155+teledials cost: €570
Timing belt+tensioners €300
How's that for a bargin???? that's her to your left!
Got to pay another €500 VRT to put her on Irish roads but still.
