New GTV Owner - With a few niggles
Just bought a 2001 Y-plate GTV 2.0 TS. Very happy with it in general, taking into account the nature of Alfas. However I have a couple of issues which I wouldn't mind some advice on.
After driving it for 3 days without any issues, the EOBD light has come on a stays on. Also the engine seems to run fairly hot when sitting idling. Probably sits around 90-95C. Fan kicks in and does cool down slightly but over a 10 minute period this cycle would happen 3-4 times. When driving at least 30-40mph the temp drops to about 75/80 but quickly increases to around 90 or above when not so much airflow. Also, when hot the engine pinks quite noticably which it doesn't when cold.
The previous owner had the EOBD light come on about a month or so ago, along with a flat spot around 4500rpm. Had it diagnosed as faulty Air-Flow sensor, which was subsequently replaced and issue dissappeared. Is it likely that this unit has failed again or could it be something else?
The car seems to running OK with no appreciable performance issues although it does seem to be running slightly unevenly at tick-over.
I have a squealling noise that seems to be coming from rear off-side wheel. On braking it dissappears and on taking a right hand bend. It can be cleared for short time by applying hand-brake and then attempting to pull away with hand-brake still on before finally releasing. This lasts for a mile or so before re-appearing.
Any help on these issues would be greatly appreciated as my wife is beginning to give me a hard time for buying a problematic car, despite the fact she loves driving it.
