There was a 6-speed option for the 166... 2.0 ltr in CF3 flavour. The actuation is way different though. 5spd Spider uses rods, whereas 6spd '66 uses cables. There isn't a single piece the same.
I dunno what the differences are in aid of. It could be that the 5-speed has its controls nearer the back whereas the 6 speeder has them nearer the front? Any road up.. the 6-speeder uses cables.
Interestingly, the '66 cables are the same between the 2.0 ltr and the 3.2 v6 6-speeders... but curiously the cables on the 3.2 v6 Spider are not the same as the cables on the 3.2 v6 166.
It suggests that the GTV has less room, so it needs different parts to accommodate the cable arrangement that seems to be mandatory for the 6-speed gearbox.
On the other hand.. those few brackets and cables ought to be available from your friendly old dealer.... just that it's more of a project... even though the pieces should be a straight bolt-in replacement for the existing 5-speed rods arrangement.
No bullets for Chaingun..
