When I get round to fixing the connectors - probably a solder job - I can't imagine when I would want to remove the front seats next - there is no way I'd pay a garage to reset the light when there is software available to do so myself. It sounds like a good investment if it happened again.
The thing is, if this condition of the light coming on for the airbag is so 'popular', and who knows how many other people out there have it, not on this site, or even people who havent even realised what it is or noticed the light and what it means, might have always been there since they bought it - like when I did..
If it is so concurrent, then surely Alfa Romeo garages should just sort it.
Free of charge.
IT IS CLEARLY A DESIGN FAULT.
They could supply a more robust connector and reset the light and thats the end of it.
Why should we fanny around sorting it and at such an expensive rate with regards to paying a ridulous amount for some matey to plug in softare after jiggling ropey wiring?
We should get a petition or something going.
I am 11123 miles away from my Alfa and have been for over a year so I would get on it if it weas imminent.
Yeah perhaps we could club together and ask for a recall or whoever goes to Alfa with this problem should get it sorted gratis.
I get sent a letter every so often about the clamp on the bonnet which needs greasing to keep it working properly and a garage will do that for free.
Whilst that is a more obvious and mechanical problem that needs addressing and can be seen to simply,
A faulty (and obviously well documented) wiring problem of the airbag system - as we still don't know for sure whether the airbag/s will deploy in a crash with the red light on - until Clarkson/ Hammond/ May test it perhaps - should be recalled and put right.
This is a health and safety issue.
DO YOU THINK VOLVO WOULD RECALL SUCH AN ISSUE? I THINK SO.
A new and improved connector, or something more substantial, a reset of the fault using their oh-so-expensive software that has been paid for and now used thousands of times thankyou very much, an official thumbs up from the dealership mechanic and that should be ok.
Didn't Alfa have a dealership overhaul a while back getting rid of some managemnet because customer care was so rubbish?
The current line of Alfas are amazing, everything seems to be rosy, and I think something like this, not a big effort really for them but in terms of customer service and keeping current Alfa Romeo owners who may buy newer Alfas in the future happy, anyone who goes into a garage and gets this sorted free of charge because it is a design fault and a health and safety issue, would be most pleased and likely to buy Alfa again I'm sure.
I'm not sure how to get an online petition going, maybe someone out there does?
Having said all this its great we can share ideas on this forum and I thank everyone for their advice on fixing this fault.
I'd just like to get to the root of the problem and get Alfa to sort this out themselves.'
