Well, I am getting rather sick of this GTV. Will be taking it back to the garage for the 3rd time this year since march. Really starting to lose faith in buying 2nd hand Alfas.
Anyway, the problem is that there is no tollerance on the clutch pedal at all. So car starts up OK and all, then I try to select a gear, it is like the clutch isn't pressed at all. Then when I press the pedal, the pedal has no weight to it. I manage to somehow get it into 3rd gear yesterday so drove back from the airport in that.
Then when it came to reversing, I put it back to neutral and it didn't engage. The only thing I could do to get it into the gear I want is to deliberately stall it in gear. So I would lift the clutch up when 3rd gear was engaged then the car will stall, which will then allow me to select the other gears for some reason. So I got parked like that.
I went to check the clutch and break fluid, there was nothing in the reservoir. No problems with the brakes, didn't feel any different. So I thought problem solved, topped it back up waited the car for a few minutes and then I felt the clutch was feeling a little bit more 'weighty' again although not quite right. Left it there overnight
I went back again today, its like all the clutch fluid is leaked again. I checked the bottle and its bloody full! So I'm not sure what exactly is wrong with it. Do I need to wait for a time period while the clutch gets re primed or something? Do I need to leave the car on? There is absolutely no weight to the clutch today, which is even worse than yesterday. I cannot get it in gear even if I forced it to. Any ideas would be appreciated.
I am going to go do an ECU reset now.
