Idle problems since cam belt change
Since the cam belt was changed along with new water pump, variator and full service, the car 2.0 TS 99 ph2 has not idled properly. Before it settled around 600-700revs, sometimes it had the odd up to 1000 before dropping down, but in the main was steady. After the work was done on driving home the revs when coming to a stop stayed between 1000 and 1200, and was on occasions swinging up to 2000, so I took it back a day later and they changed the throttle body, seemed odd as before it was fine. Drove home again and although it was slightly better, I still wasn't happy, so went back again, this time they asked if there had been any MAF related issues as the connection between the wiring and the maf was taped. I said that was how it was when I bought the car as the plastic part at the end of the wiring was broken, so they suggested re-wiring the connections, I agreed, but it really made no difference. So as I was going away I thought I'd live with it and see if things would settle down. The idle then started swinging about wildly when coming to a stop or dipping the clutch to reverse when parking etc, last night whilst going around 50mph the EML came on. Today I've put the diag cable on to see if anything showed a fault, 2 things came up Cam position sensor, - wiring short, and Idle control actuator -Blocked. I cleared the faults, light went out and took her for a 20 min drive, idle not swinging about but still slightly high. What does blocked mean ? the Idle actuator is electrical, does anyone know please.
