Major problems Powerflex-ing upper wishbones
I really need some help. I have tried it twice, and failed. It seems to be impossible. The fist time I thought I had got the wrong bushings. But the second set I got gave exactly the same problems.
A- The lip on the bushing seems to be too thick.
B- The bushing is swelling/ getting longer when the metal pipe is pressed in.
I am first pressing in the bushing alone into the wishbone. Then I am pressing the metal pipe into the bushing. While this is being done, the tension is making the bushing elongate inwards. This then makes it impossible to get the wishbone in to the sub frame without cutting away a part of the bushing.
I measure the bushing before fitting and it is 30mm long, Once in place, it is almost 36mm long.
I tried first pressing the metal pipe into the bushing and then press the kit into the wishbone, but this did not work as the bushing got too thick to fit in the wishbone.
How did you guys do it? Did you have to cut away any bits? I mean, even when I cut away a part from the inner side of the bushing, the lip on the opposite side is still to thick to fit in the sub frame. So it also had to be modified with a knife.
In my opinion the lip should be 6mm, PF says it should be, and is 8mm thick.
