A rule made to be broken?
Over the years that I have been running cars getting on in years - currently a 1975 Triumph Toledo; 1996 Lexus LS400 and 1999 GTV TS - I have always made it a rule that once it would cost more than 50% of the car's value to get through the MoT, then it was time to call the scrapman.
Looks as though costs for this MoT - including an annual service - are well on the way to and past £700, largely due to suspension issues. Looking at s/h values, I don't think I could realistically expect more than a grand for her.
So, I ought to be on the phone to the scrapman but I like the car so much (she's called Betty as in Alfabetty....) that I intend to break the rule this time around. I am sure that fellow Alfisti will agree that this is the way to go with prices for good cars being so low.
Mind you, I'm also in the market for a decent 147 or 156 diesel if I can get one at around £2k as I need to get my fuel costs down.
