Sorry in advance....Code key problems
Had my 97 2.0 TS GTV just over a year. Unfortunately I bought it without the master key as a friends Fiat had a red master key I thought what I had was one. Then my first prob with a flat battery my code light wouldnt go out and couldnt start. An Alfa dealer had the car in and said there was a short circuit in the code box and whatever they did got it running again.
Now a year later in the same sought of weather and after the xmas break the car died again....The alfa alarm or something must drain quite bad....I have had other cars sitting for weeks and started no problem.
Anyway...give the battery a full charge and when reconnected the code light wont go out and the car wont start. Far to much of a coincidence to say flat battery's do not upsett the code function on these cars.
Does anyone know of someone who can take the ecu and code box and wipe the imobiliser programme off and then I would fit a decent modern alarm which would be reliable and a better source of security.
Saying that it certainly wont be going anywhere so I suppose the imobiliser works a little too well.
