Help 146ti 2.0l T.Spark into GTV Help please????

Hi, i recently wrote about my keycode problems however i wanted to know whether an engine from a 2000 146ti 2.0 T.Spark will go into my 1996 2.0 T.Spark without too many probelms. Does it fit and are there any problems regarding the ecu etc or will it be alright to go in. Can you let me know a.s.a.p as i can buy this engine fairly cheap. Please let me know, thanks

ECU will be different on a late 146 and an early GTV - Not sure how big a deal this will be, ie could you swap the ECU as well ? ? apart from that I would think they will be the same

As far as I can ascertain, the main engine components - from sump to head - are identical. Manifolds and the cam covers - ally or plastic - differ, but can easily be swapped. Don't see any reason why the swap shouldn't be on, therefore. BUT - change the timing belt (and probably tensioner) before fitting, unless you are absolutely certain it has been recently changed!
