Hi, recently bought a '01 2L GTV, the 2 front tyres were awful and needed changing as the tracking as all out of goose. I also wasnt overly keen on the teardrop (phase 2?) rims.
So, I bought a set of V6 teledials with what originally looked like a set of good tyres for just over double the cost of a pair of new mid range Kumho's. However when off the car the rears are near the limit on the very edge too
1) The difference between a 205/55-16 and 245/45-17 is 128mm = 6.7% would you say this is too much? And is this 6.7% faster on the speedo?
2) If so, would you recommend going for something like a 205/45-17 which would take it nearly bang on with circumference = 4 tyres!
3) It now looks like it needs a small tickle with a lowering twig, a bit, but not much. Is it right that the V6 springs are a different size?
I havent got a boat load of cash to chuck at this right now, kind of considering whether to sell on the V6 rims and just get some tyres for the stock wheels. It does look loads better though! Plus i'm sure it would handle ace with 20mm lowered springs and some new shocks!
Your thoughts / experience would be appreciated
