P1 Wooden Trim Removal

I've just purchased a very nice 'P' reg P1 lots of history with only 52k on the clock. Before I use it, it will have a new cam belt as the old one is time expired.

One thing which it has got (which I don't like) is wooden trim on the centre console, around the gear shift, fuel opening switch cluster and the fog light cluster.

It seems as if it just glued on.

Has anyone tried to remove these? Is it easy to do? Will it leave a mess?

Has any one got any tips they could pass on to me?

Many thanks

Hi Nick, must of us have had to take action to tidy up the coating on the console parts, even if they have not been covered with wood effect stickers!

The original plain coating was rubberized and this marks badly.

Have a search for console refurb and see what has been done. The parts can be had very cheaply from breakers, be done up in the workshop and then swapped over. Removing the center and middle consoles is very easy when you know how.
