Oil chemistry.

I currently have 10/40 semi in the spider 2.0 TS. Now then, I have read about possible advantages of using 5/40 fully synthetic.
I need to top up.(Not change).
By introducing slowly 5/40 fully synth. Will I be ok with the balance of chemistry by mixing the 2 oils and in your own opinions will the car prefer the 5/40 full synth to the 10/40 semi synth.

Good luck with your future engine rebuild... It would be cheaper to just change the oil out surely?

I would just change the lot, but all modern oils willl mix so doing it gradually shouldn't do any harm.

It's absolutely fine to go from a 10w-40 semi to 5w-40 synthetic and mixing the oils will not cause a problem.
