Induction kits

Thinking of fitting a bmc cda induction kit to my v6. Just wondered if anyone has one fitted and what you think the benefits are. I know someone that has done this and think its great but I need more feedback before I decide. Also would it be easy to fit myself?

A lot of chatter on the board about these kits. Personally I don't think it warrants the price and the pluses are really negligible .... Your choice of course. Would suggest you use the search function on the forum.

The only real difference is the sound - which is fantastic.

I had one fitted a year ago and haven't noticed any performance difference - no negatives though.

some of them have possible death MAF issues but its not exactly proven and some say is debatable, nice noise though

I'm not too sure of the differences between this;
http://www.mijexhaustparts.com/produ...-hose?sef=hccp

and this;
BMC / CDA Intake Systems / ALFA ROMEO GTV 3.0 24V / Euro Performance Car Parts

with regard to noise / power / maf friendliness but I can do maths and for that saving I don't mind a bit of modification to make it fit.

I've just read the description of the intake in that link and have to say it reads as utter nonsense. Almost as non factual as the eBay special spark plug accelerators and fuel saving widgets.
Might indeed make a different noise on an engine but if it did anything more than that, I'd be surprised and they might be able to write something factual about it to back it up.

i have one on my ts gtv "bmc cda induction kit"

i had a few gtvs n spiders so can compare it well again original

the system was already fitted and it does sound great, i dont think is made it quicker but i have notice a difference in the cars temperature. this gtv has never got hot like my other gtvs, all my others gtv or spiders sit at 90 and goes higher in traffic. this is the first gtv i have had that doesnt do this. So i assume its something todo with this bmc air intake as everything else on the car is standard.

Neither description seems to be based on any fact, but the same goes for any aftermarket filter / induction kit. Any power increase would be completely un-noticeable to the driver and the only noticeable difference would be the sound. For that reason I cannot see what makes the bmc one worth considerably more than the other one, especially as the BMC one seems to have more BS in the advert than the cheap one, here is a small sample;

"Finally, dynamic overboosting, greater airflow, higher pressure and colder air are the elements assuring a considerable increase in engine performance in power and torque."

They won't be wrenching 200 from my pocket based on that!!

You could make one of these with parts from plumb centre for about a tenner...
Mmmm dynamic overboosting
Still, can't knock them for making good money out of jam

Hey Dean,
I wouldn't waste my money on changing the air filter box there pretty decent as standard. If your looking for a bit more noise change the exhaust.

If your looking for a little but more power get a remap after the exhaust change.
Give Alfa Tuner a call he sell exhausts and does custom maps.

Nowt to do with your intake at all. It is the cooling system of your car that cools the engine and prevents the occurance of meltdown, not your air intake.
This car seeming cooler than others and the fact it has a BMC air intake fitted are mere coincidence.

I second that, the only problem with this approach is that Alfa Romeo no longer supply the element for the V6!! I intend to fit a pipercross element to the std housing at the next filter change.
