Hi guys not the best start this morning in my ts gtv, driving to work and heard a little clunk and then the engine oil light flicker
dropped the clutch pulled over straight away and turned engine off asap. looked behind the car and a 5m trail of oil, looked under the car and a huge patch of oil and oil just running out like when you turn on the tap, I had a closer look at the sump thinking its cracked and there is no sump plug! what the........
AA man takes me home "luckily you notice and you weren't on motor way" and the gtv ts is now sat on the drive so i have a look
i have a spare sump plug from ts spider so i think simple just fit this fill back up with oil and keep my fingers crossed...............not so simple
I go to put the sump plug in the gtv and it doesnt fit, it seems to small, confused.com thinking it must be wrong sump plug (its not)
i try the sump plug in my spider and after covering myself in oil it fits perfect? i compare sumps from the spider and gtv they are the same? i compare sum plugs they are the same
After messing about for half hour i figure it out, sticking my little finger up the sump the spider sump has a little coil in it that the sump plug screws into, the gtv doesnt have this coil and thats why the sump plugs don't fit. ahhhh!!
so my question has anyone had this before? if so what sum plug should i use?
i dont really want to replace the sump for two reasons, the cost because the engine could well be fooked. And i hate the sump change job lol!
