No power at low revs
Hi all I am having a problem with my 2l tspark 1998 Spider. I'll list the problems and what I have done up until now, I'm completely lost with it.
No power until 4,000 revs then feels good (been like this since I owned it; 2 weeks), when I say no power, I mean you couldn't spin the wheels if you tried and it is very slow, until 4k revs. The car is using a lot of fuel.
When I bought the car it had the following:
Induction kit (which sits high in the engine bay)
MAF sensor stuck on back to front
After market silly sized exhaust blowing slightly
What I have done so far:
I plugged the hole in the exhaust, which then cracked, however this could also be because I hit a bump. I then replaced the exhaust with a standard exhaust from the CAT back.
I turned the MAF back around how it should be and it stopped hunting and running rich, it was running VERY rich when the MAF was on back to front.
I have tried running the car with and without the MAF, taking the MAF off leads to no improvement. I tried taking the induction kit off and running it for a short time down the road with no filter; no difference. I tried the same combination on a vectra to compare and removing the air filter and the MAF did not cause it to lose power.
I reckon it could be that the CAT is blocked due to it being ran very rich for some time.
What are other peoples thoughts? I don't think it is fuel as it is fine in the high revs and can sit at some speed. And although the induction kit wont help, I don't think it is responsible for all of the problem. Also may be worth adding when idling it 'put, put, puts' a little bit, no like it is misfiring but not quite right.
I would really really appreciate peoples thoughts on the problem.
Many thanks in advance
