Hello Guys, Alfa Number 5 here, it seems I will never learn. I bought my GTV V6 last month and the suspension doesnt seem to have liked the roads where I live. Im getting an occasional knock from the front driver side when turning right, its quite loud and my O/H thinks she can feel it through the wheel. Any ideas as to what this could be? im thinking wishbones? It doesnt sound like a CV joint.
The other one is a creaky rear, according to the last seller the rear was recently polybushed but I think he only did the spring pans, and Im getting a creak at low speeds which im thinking could be bushes?
Right I had a good poke around the offending areas, so starting with the rear. The spring pans look ok other than a nailed bump stop:
and to my relief look like they have been powerflexed:
So I cant see any issues there, the spring is intact and the damper a bit corroded but doesnt seem to squeak. I do however have a slightly dragging caliper so that will need to come off and be re greased if I can find a guide
The only its I can find at the rear that concern me are, the Arb bushes look worse for wear?
and the bushes that sit on the top "fork arm" look to be none existent on one side of the bush, is this normal? could this cause the creak?
Do any of these look like issues, could they cause the creaking?
So now on to the front, couldnt find the source of the knock, the droplinks look ok?
the front wishbone bush doesnt in my opinion
The only other thing is when turning the wheel with the car off the ground but in gear I get a clunk, which is clearly from the drive shaft of gearbox, it essentially rotates, maybe 10mm around the brake disk, stops and knocks. Turn it back the other way and the same thing, stops where it was before and knocks, any ideas what this could be?
Sorry for the massive update, Im new to all this diagnosis stuff and your help is much appreciated.
