The only difference between polybushes and standard is that polys will never wear out so you can forget about them, whereas standard will always deteriorate and need redoing - usually very frequently.
No noticeable difference in ride or handling (except of course that with standard it will always deteriorate ...).
In summary, poly is a fix and forget solution to the inherent defect of the lack of durability of the standard bushes. Thats all.
The standard ride is very firm and uncomfortable. Uprating shocks etc will improve it if anything. 18" wheels will make it worse.
No point in polybushing the front because you can't upgrade the balljoint, which is also integral to the wishbone as the bushes are, and the balljoint wears out at about the same rate as the bushes. So you just have to replace the wishbones - regularly ...
