New GTV owner, London
I am the proud new owner of a '98 Phase 1 GTV TS in red with a lovely black leather interior; 96k on the clock and she's very clean with a FSH. I've lusted after a GTV since they were launched (I was then 10 years old), and I grew up in a household full of 105 series Alfa coupes. It seemed that now was the time to pick one up as I can't see them getting much cheaper...
I've been running a '73 Lancia Fulvia 1.3s as my daily driver for the past two years and the time had finally come to give it the attention it deserves (a bare metal respray) so I was looking for a modern classic to replace it whilst it was off the road. I came within inches of putting a 4.2 Jaguar XJ6 Series 3 on the road but though better of it; even with spirited driving, I'm hoping the Alfa will reward me with more than 12MPG in London??
She's going for a new cambelt, tensioner, water pump and service tomorrow and I'm going to get the MAF looked at as she's occasionally reluctant to pull all the way through the range when cold. Other than that, I've cleaned the sticky dash with meths, taped up a split hose running from the air filter and checked fluid levels and air pressure and she's sailed 250 miles under my stewardship in a few days. The aircon is also a non starter so I'm going to have that looked at, although if it's a big job I think I'll live without it, British summers being what they are!
It's a pleasure to join the Alfa fray and I'm sure I'll see some of you at meetings soon, and failing that, I'm more than likely to have a question or two for you soon...
