I have been seriously considering selling my GTA and buying a GTV 3.0 V6.
Has anyone come from a 147 gta to a gtv? I have read a few people moving the other way and never looking back, which is the only bit im not sure on.
I have had two 147s and feel like trying something else. The GTA is such an awesome car but like many, i wont be able to afford driving these kind of cars when i have a mortgage to pay etc.
I have owned my gta for just over a year now and still look out the window and smile but the gtv is such a looker as well especially in the cup form.
Ideas? Good idea or a backward step from the 3.2?
Will be lurking the gtv section for a while till i pluck up the courage to sell
I ran a 147GTA for just under three years, sold it in 2010 and bought a 3.0GTV a year ago.
I'd say these are the differences for me...
GTA interior quality is light years ahead, my GTV has a squeak from the dash over some bumps and wind noise for driver's window seal is pretty loud above 70mph. Quality of the plastics is pretty poor in some places.
GTA seats are light years ahead for holding you in place, you sit on not in the GTV seats. Comfortable enough for distances though.
GTA brakes are a league above, admittedly I upgraded to the 330mmm on the front, before that they were woeful (since changing all discs on the GTV and changing the front pads to Ferrodo DS2500s, its made big difference).
Performance....not much in it, my GTV feels as quick. The previous owner had it on a RR and its putting out 250bhp according to the readout!
GTV feels 100% more special....its a coupe (not a hot hatch), the very narrow windscreen, the 'snug' interior plus its black with redstyle interior. Biggest cliche but it does feel like you could be in a mini Ferrari!
With the price of GTAs vs. GTVs you could buy one cheap and bring it up to top spec .
Mine came with lowered shocks and springs, have also done the following:
sorted the crappy brakes out
GTA clutch, lightweight flywheel and Quaiffe
s/steel exhaust. Nothing fancy but sounds great
repainted the callipers
Bodywork has been machine polished & detailed
new front wishbones
rear all power flexed
Don't know how old you are but at 41 I felt too old for a hot hatch as lovely as the 147GTA is .
go for it I say!!
