Thanks for the advice guys. Sounds like the v6 is awesome. Made my mind up on getting one. The only thing I was unsure of was price. Most seem to come in at £5000. One on here for that price (Cup) but know there are some for £3000. Want it as a collectible long term classic. What should I make sure has been done before I purchase? If I go for the Cup will it make it more collectible? What's the subtle difference with a normal v6 to a Cup?
I have never fancied a Cup. I don't like the seats or the body kit - but that is just personal taste. I am sure they will hold a slightly higher value.
I bought my 2001 V6 Spider a year ago -I paid £5000. It had 47k miles on it. Madness I hear your thoughts - far too much £3500 tops. However - all new tyres, cam belt changed, full service including plugs, front wishbones and new powerflexed rear. Plus it was owned by a partner in my local indie who I know and trust.
Since then the clutch started to slip so I had it replaced with a GTA one plus flywheel together with a Q2 diff. So - over the year has cost me about £6300 in total for a 12 year old car - WTF I hear you cry.
But let's wind back now - I could have got a decent one for about £3k but I would have wanted the cam belt, plugs, tyres, powerflexed rear and wishbones done as a matter of course. We are now up original £5k. Then I'd have added the Q2 and clutch.
The Q2 diff was always on my agenda - trust me it transforms the drivability. So - for my money I have a totally sorted V6 Spider. Will it hold it's value - will it hell - I'll continue to drive it like it was meant to driven and write it off for a third of what I've paid in a year or two's time.
I am willing to pay for my driving pleasure.
