Garage binning my calipers
Just wondering where I stand here. I know some of you guys here own a garage and should know the law. Anyway, as you know, my car was bought for 1k without MOT so needed to have it recovered to the garage. The garage basically did my MOT and said that the OS caliper on the front was siezed so I bought a pair on ebay. The guy said that the one I bought on ebay was bad on the OS but was fine on the NS. So I told him just to sent the old one to get it refurbished and keep the other working one for me. I got my car back, the guy forgot to bring the calipers. Now its been over a month and I still haven't got my calipers. The guy told me to go back to the garage to get my calipers back and then I was told that the guy who was fixing my car put it into the scaps bin.
I went to have my car Terracleaned the other day and the owner of that garage basically said something similar happened in that he knows someone who had a problem with their gearbox, purchased a replacement gearbox off ebay to have it fitted. The chap who's gearbox was damaged was bit suspicious that the gearbox was never changed and true enough, the terraclean guy had a look and the gearbox was never changed, just fixed. The owner obviously decided to keep it or something. I was told that garages do not have a right to scrap/ bin stuff anyway? Where do Is stand here? I was going to report this incident to trading standards as the guy is completely messing me about so I am planning to take it further.
