Re: the front hub nut, forgot to say the impact socket needed grinding to fit, took some considerable patience and caution using gloves because of the heat generated, normally a risky way of doing things! On reflection I would now have that done by machining.......anyway, hope you've cracked it. Pardon the pun!

Not always....depends on the thickness. A normal socket should fit but most impact sockets I have seen have had to be ground down.

well i ended up borrowing jake's impact gunn and 5 seconds later the hub nut was off!

Jakes impact gun was the same one recommended by Ian
Clarke CEW1000 Electric Impact Wrench - Machine Mart

I want one ...... its a beast!
