Insurance woes...personal belongings.

Just wondering if any of you have any gtv recently went up in smoke, i work in an industry where you have to remove any jewellery for work, so i placed my watch and a ring in the centre console of the car. On my way home my car started smoking and burst into engine put car out and car was picked up by a breakdown firm. From there a company used by my insurance picked the car up. Upon realising what was left in the car i rang insurance and they told me where the car was. i went and no jewellery in centre console. My insurance company are saying that personalbelongings are not covered, the breakdown firm and the salvage company are both saying that they never remove items from burnt out vehicles.

Won't your house and contents insurance cover personal items? I would have the police in as well as obviously someone is lying to you.

Use your household insurance. If the items aren't silly money you can claim under that. Have a read of your policy it should have an extension under it for something like accidental damage. Blah blah blah.
