Hmmm GTV spider 2-0 T-spark rear side lights and instrument cluster light fault

Just bought my first Alfa GTV spider 2.0 T-spark 1997 and it's absolutely fantastic bar a couple of slight niggles. Firstly the rear side lights don't work. I have checked bulbs and fuses and all fine yet still nothing. All the other lights in the rear assembly work perfectly bar the side lights. Secondly the instrument cluster back lights have failed, again I have checked the fuse and still nothing. I'm not from a mechanical back ground thus this is proving perplexing.

Any suggestions or advise from you guys as you're the best placed and I believe impartial and sympathetic to my needs would be very much appreciated.

I just want my beautiful car on the road.

Sidelights :

If the front sidelight are working, the fuse, relay and switching will be OK.

Are the number plate lights working? Both of them? Especially the right side light.

Incidentally, there are two fuses for the sidelights, but if both front sidelights are on, both fuses should be OK.

Instrument lights :
Are the auxiliary instruments ( fuel, water & clock ) lit.

Have you tried the dimmer switch? If the battery has been allowed to discharge, the dimmer defaults to an almost invisible level.
