While you're about it, get him to have a look at your caps lock key.
I wouldn't necessarily go with a mechanics diagnosis of an electrical fault in the same way I wouldn't want a dentist diagnosing a kidney problem.
The only commonality between those systems is connector 'I' on the fusebox. However, if connector 'I' had a serious fault then it is possible you wouldn't have indicators either.
I'd be inclined to get an auto electrician to look at it before you commit money to parts & fitting.
Incidentally, the fusebox in a V6 24v isn't unique to that car. All GTV/Spiders built after May 1997 have the same fusebox.
