'Kangaroo' MAF problem?

Hi all,

Had the Spider in for some work, because it was getting very jumpy at around 4k revs in the cold. Then, after changing the spark plugs and the ignition coils and leads, it was still kangarooing, but at around 2k revs regardless of temperature!

The mechanic has been a good chap, and tried and tested various bits including new MAF.

In the end though, he found it runs perfectly with the MAF disconnected !

So - despite changing the MAF - it is now running with the MAF disconnected, and the engine mgt light on! Not ideal, but driving is much nicer!

To my question for you guys then:

"What might it be with the MAF 'area' that is making me kangaroo along the road? MAF wiring???"

(ps. it is definitely the car, and not my driving style!)

Funny you refer to it as "Kangarooing" because down under most call it "Bunny Hopping".

Sorry I couldn't help though.

Was the new MAF an original Bosch item, or a pattern part?
