Good old Budget vs Premium tyre threads. All tyre threads descend to this
I think any tyre related thread, should be in the "Rant Room" ....
- What tyres should I buy for my Alfa?
- Err, no...........
- OK, engage in a full on argument
At the end of the day this topic is pretty much a b0ll0x one TBH. It's so subjective / opinionated and all down to personal choice and how you intend on using your car etc.etc.
I think the general consensus is "Buy Proper Tyres!" albeit..
Conti's, Good Year's, Dunlop's, Bridgestone's... as the list goes on.
One man's steak and chips is another man's bubble and squeak
i.e. I currently have Potenza RE050A's - many people love this tyre, I personally find them uncomfortable for the roads near me and I'm a big fan of Dunlop's, had them many years on many cars, good experience and what not's, so SportMaxx RT's I have bought.
Again, goes to show the levels of subjugation and opinion (I am guilty of this too
Then that said, I'm also loving the Bridgestone A001 (all weather tyres) I just bought for the family panzer wagon .... bloody marvelous IMO (see, still being subjective) and suits the need.
So, why didn't I buy Dunlop's for said panzer wagon? Simple, they don't do an all season tyre and I cannot be arsed with summer and winter sets, so this provided the single solution for same money as a summer tyre.
Therefore, vehicle type and application of use and available spend dictates what you can get for your coinage!
Bridgestone website allows you to enter your vehicle details and it will advise you what tyres from their range would be ok for your car!! I'm sure most makers have this feature.
But, as everyone says "safety, safety, safety" which only comes from a Pukka Tyre Manufacturer, and you can pick anyone of 'em from the top 5 firms and you'll be fine.
But not P6000's ... they are **** ha-ha (I am being opinionated again, lol).
But I am sure some may love them!
What more can we say on this subject???
