Power steering pump, or not?
I bought my GTV knowing the power steering pump is needing replaced. Their is a loud humming noise from the belt side of the engine. It sounds the same as my 145 which also needs a power steering pump replacement but the sound doesn't change when i turn the steering (the 145's does).
I have a spare pump here and with the front end in pieces i started to fit it. The old fluid is jet black but when i took the belt off i noticed the pully spins freely with no noise and no resistance or roughness. The alternator and idler is the same.
The tensioner on the otherhand spins freely and easily but has a very audible plasticy noise to it.
Should i replace the tensioner and fluid and hope that is it cured or should i go all the way and replace the pump too? I have a new tensioner on order (not cheap
