I've owned 156/159 in the past (both diesel) and now that I've done my bit for the family by trading in for the 7 seater, I think I'm entitled to some fun - always wanted a GTV. I've been looking at V6s for a while and went to see one last weekend. Nice bloke and, predictably, I fell in love with the car. First time driving a car with one of those engines. Wow.
Thing is, I'm not really an expert or anything and a bit anxious about missing something that you'd all think obvious and daft when buying a 12yr old car - so couple of questions.
I've read the buying guides and stuff but it does talk about getting underneath and looking at suspension, bushes and all sorts of things I've never done. Is it worth getting someone from a garage up to have a look (I think that Alfaworkshop site says they do it)? Does anyone have any experience of this, how much they tend to be/ are they worth it? The AA check seems to be for cars< 8 years old. I'm guessing as most of you guys are experts you do all that happily yourselves.
It's the black v6 on PH (Used ALFA ROMEO GTV V6 24V for sale - PistonHeads (Ref 830718)
). Reg X896 KVN - anyone know anything about this one?
Oh and last question - if the car checks out, is the price reasonable? I've seen some with Q2 and polybush stuff for higher end of £3k; this one hasn't although its had a recent clutch change.
Sorry it's all a bit noob, but I'd really appreciate any help/advice.
