GTV 3.0 V6 T-reg 2000......I recently spent a fair amount of cash at a garage on a new exhaust system, callipers stripped/painted red, service brakes & gasket fitting to sort a slight engine oil leak with a view to getting the car to good state.
Within a day or two the engine began running rough when warmed up, especially bad on idling. When driving you can feel it stutter a little(it was running spot on before any work was done
GTV went back to the garage. They made an assumption that the spark plugs were oil contaminated and changed them costing me more money....still running rough!
It then got worse running on only 5 cylinders
I took it to another garage as I had lost faith with the first. Rear centre coil pack changed got me back to 6 cylinders cost me more money......but still running rough!
Car went back. 2 more coil packs changed on the rear cost me even more money
.....still running rough!
The reason why the garages seem to miss the rough running after they have done work is that when starting from cold it sounds ok, but when warm and the revs settle down its rough.
So now I have all new spark plugs and 3 new rear coil packs(assumption is the 3 front are ok, but I am changing myself soon).....but still running rough!
ANY IDEAS GUYS FROM YOUR EXPERIENCE AS TO WHAT MY "EXPERT" MECHANICS ARE MISSING
