I have a GTV with a 2.5 V6 engine
Well I thought it was a 3 litre as my car is registered as a 3 litre V6....
Anyway, I took my car to Autolusso to have the Wizard cat back quad exhaust fitted (it sounds absolutely insanely incredible by the way and I would urge anyone looking at custom exhaust to get one) and while the car was up on the ramp, the guys there were looking at it and spotted so many non-standard things about the car, some positive, some not so much.
I mentioned that the car felt a bit slow compared to my old 3 litre GTV and that the maf is probably the culprit. One of them looked at the rear of the engine on the underside and the engine size is stamped there I think.... 2.5. The last person who sold me the car took it out of a 156 or 166 and put it in mine. I was/am gutted to say the least. *******.
Still, having removed the maf temporarily, the car is going like stink and feels like it is giving all the horses the 2.5 unit should.
I have ploughed £2k into the car in the last 8 months including new radiator, water pump, thermostat, service, exhaust etc so I am gonna keep it and just accept that it isn't as fast as the other GTV v6s around hahaha. It still goes VERY well but just does not have the mid range ummph of the 3 litre. The top end is fantastic though and the car screams to the red line.
I wonder what the weight difference of the 2.5 and 3 litre engine is? I do think that the car handles better than my last 3 litre GTV. Maybe I am imagining it.
Interesting stuff anyway...
