The Italian heart of this fine machine, that did once beat at 220, was stolen and replaced with a smaller heart that could only beat at 192, (even though both had 24 valves....valves geddit).
Well, I have taken charge of this little beauty now, and I've made it my mission to reinstate her back to her former glory. The car has been in open heart surgery for the last week.....let's hope she lives again - with the full 220?
Engine/box out of 3.0 donor (donor shell is beyond repair) & quick cambelt change.....Complete.
Then engine/box out of 2.5 - split 2.5 engine/box - remove 2.5 solid flywheel - fit solid flywheel, new GTA clutch & 2.5 box (6 speed) to 3.0 donor engine.....Waiting for clutch to arrive.
Obviously remove both F&R sub frames & suspension, all F&R brakes, to carry out body welding (sills & boot), replace brake lines, underseal, fuel tank check - bhlady blah....Welding done. New/refurbed suspension & brakes all assembled on their subframes - ready to be fitted.
So, I'm 60% there, including the hardest job of corrosion prevention underneath. Next job is to create confusion within the household so I can divert funds for the Quaife/Q2. This will happen, I don't need talked into it, will order next week....does anyone have one for sale - Ha!
Red electric seats...searched for a long time for these, at least 3-4 years......in the end I had to buy a whole car to get them (non runner...so a bit of a bargain).
Eibachs are in the suspension mix.
4 x new Kuhnos on my 19" 'pothole magnets' - ready to be fitted, prob just keep the teles on for now.
Front ARB: I want the Alfaholics kit - but it's stupid money - not too many options out there for a front ARB - OE I suppose.
Donor engine been sat for 18 months.
Bodywork needs a bit of TLC.
P.S. All work being done on my drive - invitations open to anyone passing through Suffolk, for brews, biscuits & Alfa chat, bring your coveralls. In fact one of our forum friends is having a drive up from Kent tomorrow for a mooch around.
Photos are of removals.
