This old chestnut! Sorry to bring up the same old topic again but i've searched the site and only found one other owner who has experienced this problem and the thread didn't appear to lead to a solution. Please if anyone can help.
1999 Spider 2ltr TS Lusso.
Wipers work fine on intermitent (all delay settings) and on washer wipe but nothing on 1st and 2nd speed constant settings.
I've had the steering cowl off and getting voltages that seem to correspond with the changing of stalk position. Although pin 3 on the plug registers 12v when stalk at high setting, only shows 0.8v at low speed setting. Does this sound right?
Removed the motor and ran through settings on the stalk. Getting varying voltage at one of the pins, intermitent setting I'm supposing because the voltage changes as you alter the timing delay on the stalk. The one next to this is ground and the one the other side shows no signs of life. Could this be the input for constant wipe? Should there be voltage at this one?
The other plug on the motor appears to have 1 ground, 2 constant 12v live and one switched 12v live that activates when the motor starts. Power supply for the motor?
The wipers work perfectly when on, they just don't seem to be getting the signal to switch on for the constant settings. Can't be the motor? Is there a seperate relay for the constant wiping? I don't understand why 2 out of the 4 settings work fine and the other 2 are completely dead.
I've been a VW fan the last 20 years and much as i'm enjoying my first Alfa, i'm hoping it not going to prove my past prejudices right.
